Walked in around 8:45am on a Saturday morning and it smelled wonderful. We were greeted with a friendly good morning and what can I get for you today? We had a crowd to feed so we ordered 2 dozen regular and a dozen mixed filled. They were hot and smelled so good all the way home. When the gang dove in they said they were delicious. One of our friends has had true New Orleans beignets and said these were very close to the original. We will be back next year for more!
My wife and I were visiting Gulf Shores for a week, our first time here. It was our last day and we really wanted to try Cafe Beignet. We stopped by with another couple today (Saturday) at 11:30 am. We were aware that they close at noon but assumed we would still have time to get a coffee and a beignet. The second we walked in the door, a man shouted from the back "we are closing in two minutes" A bit taken aback, my wife asked if we can still get a coffee and a beignet. He said "well I guess so, but we are locking the doors in two minutes" His rudeness just turned us right off so we said "sorry to bother you" and abruptly left. Needless to say, we won't bother returning!
Cash only, open until sold out, can be rude at times but beignets are hot and fresh and pretty decent
First time visitor to this establishment. I had a very mixed experience while I was here. The #1 thing a restaurant must do is server good food, and this cafe does that with some wonderful tasting beingets. I had a sample of each and thought the chocolate filled were the best. However the cook/owner ( I think) seemed to be very angry that I showed up at 11:15. Even asking the waiter very loudly "What do they want??" I was even taking the order to go as to not hold up the waitress as she seemed stressed. I have seen a few others reviews say the same, perhaps they should close at 11 if the owner would like to leave by 12. If you post hours saying you will be open till 12, then that's when the oven should turn off.
Beignets were decent. The woman in the cafe was very nice. But the man did have an attitude like the other review say. Kind of a hole in the wall in the strip mall. But still pretty good.
