This is such a neat place to visit. Yes there is a fee to enter but, once in, you'll be glad you decided to do it. The kids enjoy climbing up the stair-cased walls to see Mobile Bay and the Gulf. They also liked talking to someone dressed in military garb from the time-period to learn about life during the war. The museum is small yet fascinating so you won't be overwhelmed with artifacts or need to stay too long. It also houses a small shop with trinkets. Be aware that there are a few stinging/biting ant mounds around the grounds and they do hurt if you get stung.
Neat place. I liked reading the few signs that were found on the outer fort area. I would have liked to see more though. But it was interesting and I liked walking the beach area also.
Beautiful historic site. We love it as visit usually once a year. Very educational and fun.
Really nice historical site. Small and easily walkable. Lots of steps to the top though.
It was blah in my opinion. Fort Macon in NC offers a much better experience. Not enough to learn about and frankly it is just a basic fort. Not really worth the cost for us.
